Quick Birthday Savings Tip

This is a quick, frugal and earthy crunchy tip - the next time you have a birthday party for one of your children, save the hats.
Yes, that's it.
Save the hats.
We have about 15 miscellaneous hat that we haul out for every birthday.
We pick our favorite and wear them for the 5 minutes it takes to sing and get pictures.
Then I stack them back up and put them back in the closet.
Some of our hats are at least 12 years old.
The newest ones are 5 years old.
No one really cares if they have a used Winnie the Pooh hat - just that we are wearing hats.

Lets see the savings: 9 people x 12 years plus 1 person 5 years = that is 113 birthday parties x we'll say $4 a package? = (remember they come in pkgs of 8 and we always need 2)
So that is a grand total savings of.....drumroll please......$1108.00!!!!
That doesn't even take into consideration that these are usually only one use purchases and would have been pitched - we saved 1808 party hats from the trash.

So, if you are just starting out - buy one package for girls and one for boys and you are set for a VERY long time!!! OR if you want to be uber frugal, the next time you are at a party ask the hostess if she minds if you have hers - instead of pitching them. Then they are FREE!

P.S. It goes without saying that we reuse the number candles over and over and over again!!

This totally Works for Me (Wed @ We are THAT family)
