I am not a morning person. I love my pillow and could and have slept till noon on any given day. But I am a MOM and Moms aren't supposed to sleep in. So for 20 years I have gotten up WITH my kids. (and sometimes they got up WITHOUT me - they are very self sufficient children) It was hard. We were all crabby; not enough time to eat a decent meal, get dressed, say our prayers and get out the door.
This last couple weeks I have been getting up BEFORE my kids and husband. Somewhere between 5 and 5:30. This has been life altering! I am not exaggerating. I get up, get dressed, say my prayers and make a nutritious breakfast. I am ready as they come down. I can visit with them. Help keep them on track. Get them all out the door on time. My next plan is to add exercise to the morning.
This helps me to save money - homemade is cheaper, and be a little crunchy -I am using organic free range eggs to feed the kiddo's.
This works for me! Added to WFMW!
good for you! I hate getting up early too but I have to do it for work. 5:50am is super early....ugh
ReplyDeletei need to do this.....but i am up till 1 or 2 cleaning and getting ready for the next day.....maybe if i go to bed early i willmake it
ReplyDeleteJust this week I have been getting up early, too. My dog has been loving it. he actually has been getting a walk, so I can squeeze in 15 minutes of a work out, before showering, before the kids wake up.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing the things I can get done in 25 minutes with out kids.
I too love my quiet house in the mornings. I have been slacking though so thanks for the reminder about how nice it is. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to get up at 4:30 when they got up at 5:20. It was hard, but worth it. I started staying up later and getting up at 6:30 for the last three months, and it has made it harder for everyone. The children are now sleeping a little later (till about 5:50) and I am up at 5:00 am. I really like being able to pray when it is quiet and no one is coming in my room in the morning.
